After a 2020 practically indoors, many people realized how pleasant it can be to enjoy their little corner. In many, it also awoke the desire to leave the house even more with the face of the residents or the need to fix a little thing here and there. With 2021 just around the corner, plans to revamp the environments should already be on the list of goals. Therefore, we bring here the main trends in architecture and decoration of 2021, recommended by the architects Susana Fiuza, presenter of the program Oba, Obra!, on TV Otimista, and Mariana Mota, director of Cerbras.
CORES
Each year, Pantone – from the Pantone Color Institute – chooses the color of the year, which influences the development of products, whether in decoration, fashion or design. For 2021, she chose two colors: Illuminating (yellow) and Ultimate Gray (grey). While yellow represents strength and positivity, gray refers to solid and reliable elements that offer a firm foundation. According to Pantone, the independent color duo shows that very different elements can come together to support each other.
Architect Susana Fiúza, however, remembers that, as with other architectural elements, the use of colors will depend on the client's profile. “It's much more what the customer wants and what their way of living, using, being within the environment is like. In a commercial environment, that's what it needs to convey, what it needs to convey to attract customers or to have a wonderful experience in the space,” she explains.
FLOORS AND COVERINGS
The pandemic showed the importance of prioritizing the use of materials that offer practicality in cleaning. “Coatings such as ceramics and porcelain are great highlights for their ease of cleaning. Paying attention to the disinfection of the coatings used in the projects of the properties is now, in addition to practicality, a health issue”, says architect Mariana Mota. According to her, porcelain tiles with larger sizes tend to gain more space in the market, helping to create the impression of spaciousness of environments.
Coatings that combine durability, resistance and naturalness are Susana Fiúza's bets for 2021. She says that she has used quartzite a lot in her projects, a natural stone typically from Brazil and also produced in the interior of Ceará. “It is a totally natural material, resistant, hard. A trend is for us to use our materials more and more, the fabrications of our country for the money to run here, but often, we take the best and export”, observes the professional.
FURNITURE
The trend is for furniture to follow the mutability of current life. “I have designed it in a looser, more flexible way so that the client, when moving, can take the furniture. My trend has been design furniture, which has a lot more finishing and will last. We are going to invest more in art, in design, especially Brazilians”, emphasizes the presenter of TV Otimista.
ENVIRONMENTAL INTEGRATION
Joining spaces to gain amplitude in environments and connecting people continues as a trend in 2021. “We work from home, our leisure is at home, bringing people inside. So, this makes us use environments in an increasingly integrated way. Depending on the client, the style and life of that family, we often integrate the environment by putting a sliding door that, when you want, closes”, teaches Susana.
